Turn Ideas Into Reality with 3D Printing (4th grade & up)

Imagine designing something on a computer and holding it in your hands just hours later. In Adroit Robotics Club's 3D Printing program, students learn how to transform their ideas into real, functional objects using the same technology utilized by engineers, product designers, and manufacturers around the world.

Whether it's a custom robot part, a creative invention, or a personal project, students experience the complete journey from concept to creation.

Design. Create. Innovate.

3D printing combines creativity, engineering, and technology into one exciting learning experience.

Students learn how to:

  • Design original 3D models
  • Understand the engineering design process
  • Prepare files for 3D printing
  • Operate and maintain 3D printers safely
  • Solve design challenges through prototyping
  • Improve designs through testing and iteration

Every project encourages creativity while teaching real-world engineering skills.

Classes are one hour long and cost $10 per hour, per student. We provide the technology, materials, and guidance—students only need to bring their creativity!

Class days and times vary by month. We do our best to schedule classes at times that are convenient for our families. Please visit our Calendar for the latest schedule, or complete the request form and we’ll help you find the best available class for your student.

What Students Will Learn

3D Design Fundamentals

Students begin by learning the basics of computer-aided design (CAD) and how digital models become physical objects.

Topics include:

  • Basic 3D modeling
  • Shapes and dimensions
  • Measurement and scaling
  • Design for printing
  • Exporting printable files

3D Printing & Prototyping

Students bring their designs to life while learning how professional makers and engineers create prototypes.

They'll learn:

  • How 3D printers work
  • Printer setup and operation
  • Materials and filament types
  • Print preparation and slicing
  • Troubleshooting print issues
  • Improving designs through multiple iterations

Real-World Skills

3D printing teaches students much more than how to operate a machine.

They develop:

  • Creative thinking
  • Engineering design skills
  • Problem-solving
  • Precision and attention to detail
  • Patience and perseverance
  • Critical thinking
  • Innovation and teamwork

These are valuable skills used in engineering, manufacturing, architecture, healthcare, product development, and countless other industries.

Hands-On Learning

Students don't just watch demonstrations—they become creators.

They'll:

  • Design their own projects
  • Print real objects
  • Test and improve their creations
  • Build custom robot components
  • Solve engineering challenges
  • Take home many of the projects they create

Every class provides opportunities to learn through experimentation and hands-on experience.

No Experience Required

Whether your child enjoys building, drawing, creating, or simply loves technology, our 3D Printing program is designed for beginners and experienced makers alike (4th Grade-12th Grade; Adult courses also available).

Our instructors guide students through each step of the design and printing process, helping them gain confidence while developing valuable STEM skills.

Create the Future

From robotics and aerospace to medicine and manufacturing, 3D printing is changing the way the world designs and builds.

At Adroit Robotics Club, students don't just learn about this technology—they use it to create, innovate, and bring their ideas to life.
